African Island Beach Resort has been created with beach lovers in mind, to satisfy the need for sun, sand and surf - without the long drive, heavy petrol costs, and constantly being asked "Are we there yet? " Big or small - Everyone can enjoy themselves by spending some quality time on our white, sandy "beaches". Whether you're here for a tan, you're looking to get wet, or you just want to enjoy yourself for a few hours, away from the hustle and bustle of city living, you can't go wrong with African Island. Please feel free to bring your own food and drink and enjoy a picnic at our resort. Don't forget to bring a gazebo or umbrella for a bit of shade. Our farm is situated in Skeerpoort, a village at the foot of the majestic Magaliesberg mountains and we are open six days a week from 8h00 to 17h00. We are closed on Tuesdays. We have a restaurant and full function facilities for weddings, family outings, corporate functions, team building and any kind of festive occasion. Tailor made proposals can be arranged like lunches for tour groups, picnics and wine tasting. Besides our restaurant we can offer you a lovely relaxing picnic on the banks of the Skeerpoort river. The picnic hampers must be booked at least a day in advance. Any quantity of cheese can be bought at the Farm Shop, as well as a selection of wine, preserves, souvenirs, a range of Dutch favorites, sweets, odds and ends. Bookings are essential.

Bophirima, once known as Stellaland, is situated in the unadulterated splendour of the North West Province of South Africa. This part of the country is quiet, known for spectacularly serene landscapes and miles upon miles of gorgeous farmlands. T here is a lot of history in the region too, which means plenty of monuments, memorials and museums along the way. In addition to these natural and historical attractions, the Bophirima area is acclaimed around the world for being the site of the discovery of the Taung Skull; a child's skull believed by scientists to be some 2. 5 million years old. This has come to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to the value of this finding in terms of establishing Africa as the probable Cradle of Humankind. Situated nearby to the actual site as which this skull was discovered are the Blue Pools. These are a beautiful collection of natural basins, streams and caves carved out of the ancient rock of the area, against the backdrop of a limestone ...

Helderberg Farm is a family friendly farm, located just outside of Somerset West. We are open daily from 08: 00 to 17: 00 (Closed on Good Friday & Christmas Day) . We offer a variety of activities such as Hiking Trail, Mountain Biking Trail, 4x4 & Viewpoint Trail, Picnic & Braai Spots, Private Venues for Birthdays / Year End Functions / Family Reunions / Baby Showers / Kitchen Tea's, Wedding Venues, Strawberry Picking (seasonal), Strawberry Plants for Sale, Accommodation in the old Dam Hut, Tea Garden for Coffee & variety of Cakes, Play-Park for toddlers, Animal Farmyard for kids to feed the animals, Nursery, Laser-Tag & Paintball. All permits can be purchased at the Tea Garden between 08: 00 and 17: 00. No permit, no access. Mitchell Park Zoo, also known as Mitchell Park or Mitchell's Park, is situated in the Morningside suburb of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Holding claim to being the only zoo in Durban, Mitchell Park was initially established as an ostrich farm in 1910. After an unprofitable start, other animals were introduced and it became home to many large animals; most notably an Indian Elephant called Nellie, who was given to the zoo by the Maharajah of Mysore in 1928. She could blow a mouth organ and crack coconuts with her feet.
