Since then, Unichem's Petrochemicals division has grown to represent ExxonMobil Chemical Synthetics in South Africa and other African and Middle East countries; responsible for the distribution of fully synthetic base oils and esters, as well as a range of speciality additives, for the lube oil blenders and grease industries in sub-Saharan Africa. The Consumer Care division (personal care, cosmetics and home care) was set up in 2001, with the exclusive distribution rights of Exxonmobil Chemical's PureSyn range of products for the personal care and cosmetic industry in South Africa.
