Bargain Basket has been a household name in Pietermaritzburg since 1998. First known as the "One Price Store" (or the R5 Store as it was commonly referred to) it started trading from the Church Street premises. A second branch opened in Victoria Road in 2007. The Church Street branch was later sold and the Victoria Road branch moved to the current premises in Camps Drift in 2021. Now occupying a massive space of 3000 squared meters, it is home to over 50 000 stock items, many of which are once-off products.
