Mbhashe Local Municipality is a Category B, Third Grade municipality. It is situated in the south-eastern parts of the Eastern Cape province, and is bound by the coastline flowing from the Qhora River in the south to the Mncwasa River in the north along the Indian Ocean. It borders the following municipalities: King Sabata Dalindyebo in the north-east, Ngcobo in the west, Mnquma in the south and Ntsika Yethu in the south-west.
