Business Against Crime (Eastern Cape) is a registered NPO, and was established in 1996 in response to a call from former President Nelson Mandela for the business community to assist Government in the fight against crime.

The mandate of the PSIRA derives from the Private Security Industry Regulatory Act 56 of 2001. The primary objective of the authority are to regulate the private security industry and to exercise effective control over the practice of the occupation of security service provider in the public and national interest and the interest of the private security industry itself.

The Locksmith's Association of South Africa is the representative body for the locksmithing industry in the country: the industry is regulated by an Act of Parliament and falls under the auspices of the Private Security Industry Regulatory authority.

Business Against Crime Western Cape (BACWC) as anindependent non-profit company, has a mandate to partner with government, by sharing expertise, information, processes and technologies resident in business, and to get business' own house in order by removing crime-enabling processes, systems and approaches as well as improving crime prevention measures.

BACSA was established in 1996 in a response to a call from the then President Mandela for the business community to become involved in the fight against crime.
