Dr Imren Jhetam qualified as a medical doctor at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine of the University of Natal in 1996. After completing his internship, he worked as a registrar of Internal Medicine at King Edward VIII hospital in Durban. He then spent time gaining experience as a specialist medicine registrar in the United Kingdom.
