For a fun filled family day out, grab a picnic basket, rustle up the kids and head to the Andersons Dam Trail. The 8 kilometer walk is easy and suitable for all people at all fitness levels. The walk in total will take you 3 to 4 hours there and back, but why rush and get it done - spend a bit longer and stop along the way at the dam where you can take advantage of the beautiful Kologa picnic area. Brei spots, ablution blocks and picnic tables are here making this a convenient spot for lunch with everything you need. The Andersons Dam Trail is in Stutterheim is very scenic and is abundant with plant and birdlife so be sure to bring your camera with you to capture nature at its best.

Helderberg Farm is a family friendly farm, located just outside of Somerset West. We are open daily from 08: 00 to 17: 00 (Closed on Good Friday & Christmas Day) . We offer a variety of activities such as Hiking Trail, Mountain Biking Trail, 4x4 & Viewpoint Trail, Picnic & Braai Spots, Private Venues for Birthdays / Year End Functions / Family Reunions / Baby Showers / Kitchen Tea's, Wedding Venues, Strawberry Picking (seasonal), Strawberry Plants for Sale, Accommodation in the old Dam Hut, Tea Garden for Coffee & variety of Cakes, Play-Park for toddlers, Animal Farmyard for kids to feed the animals, Nursery, Laser-Tag & Paintball. All permits can be purchased at the Tea Garden between 08: 00 and 17: 00. No permit, no access. Mitchell Park Zoo, also known as Mitchell Park or Mitchell's Park, is situated in the Morningside suburb of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Holding claim to being the only zoo in Durban, Mitchell Park was initially established as an ostrich farm in 1910. After an unprofitable start, other animals were introduced and it became home to many large animals; most notably an Indian Elephant called Nellie, who was given to the zoo by the Maharajah of Mysore in 1928.
