The NSPCA is the largest animal welfare organisation enforcing the Animals Protection Act in South Africa. The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) was founded in 1955 as the Federation of SPCAs to provide a forum to bring uniformity to welfare legislation and standards. All the SPCAs in South Africa are governed by the SPCA Act 169 of 1993 which is administered by the NSPCA, thus constituting us as a statutory body. We also have our own units who work towards ending cruelty in the lives of animals used in research, farm animals, wildlife, animals used in sports and entertainment, dogs in security, aquaculture and dogs used in the cruel practice of dog fighting.

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (eCL), has been protecting and caring for animals since 1956. It is South Africa's second largest independent Animal Welfare Organization, relying entirely on the generosity and goodwill of the animal-loving public for financial support.

RabbitCare South Africa (RCSA or RabbitCare SA) is a non-profit group helping pet-rabbit owners take proper care of their pets. We promote the welfare of domestic pet rabbits and believe rabbits should be treated as companion animals and never be permanently caged. RabbitCare SA believes most abuse is the result of ignorance. We therefore distribute free educational material and provide tips and advice for the happiness, health and general well-being of pet rabbits. RabbitCare South Africa is registered on the International Directory of Animal Protection Organizations and is a member of the Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW)
