Wild Trout Association
Rhodes, South Africa
The WTA is to be found in the Eastern Cape Highlands and is based in the historic village of Rhodes. Weather willing, access to more than 200km of running water can be gained by arranging day permits at the Rhodes Info Centre in Muller Street, 045 971 9003. Fished properly, this is more water than most folk can fish in a lifetime. On the other hand, it helps a great deal if one lives in the area! Waters range from Lilliputian streams on the Naudesnek and Ben McDhui plateaux tumbling down into the valleys below where they gradually become more formidable waters ending up in the mighty Krei River. The Krei is formed by the confluence of the Bell River and the Sterkspruit at Moshesh's Ford. From there, it meanders through the Barkly East and Lady Grey districts to join the Orange River above Aliwal North. Apart from the waters, the mountain scenery, wildlife, summer flora, rural hospitality and much more have to be experienced. We look forward to your visit!
