Viljoenskroon Hospice was founded in 1993 and has been actively involved in Home-based care for terminally ill patients since its inception. Traditionally we were caring for people suffering with terminal cancer and other life threatening diseases, until the HIV and Aids hit our community.

The Keiskamma Trust promotes health and hope through art, music, HIV / AIDS treatment, poverty alleviation projects and education initiatives. The Keiskamma Health Program: Providing the only AIDS / HIV treatment in this area of South Africa it currently has nearly 200 people on Anti-retroviral drugs. Our Aids Treatment centre in Hamburg provides full time in-patient care for those that need it. In addition over 40 adherence monitors are employed by the Trust to ensure that out-patients are able to stick to their medication. This is notoriously the difficult part of the healing process and these monitors make the difference between success and failure. The Keiskamma Art Project: This community initiative provides many people from Hamburg and neighbouring villages with the skills, materials and training to create beautiful artworks.
