Negative: Not Professional.

I have been seeing Dr. Van der Merwe who sadly passed away last year. I then went to Dr. Malan Roux for a check up. I found Dr. Roux dismissive and uncaring. He looked at my MRI and did not even do an examination of me. He also did not give any options for pain relief. In my opinion, he did not need to operate and so he was not interested in my case. I find this sad as Dr Van Der Merwe was always caring and helpful. I am still waiting for my invoice in order to claim from Medical Aid. This I feel is unacceptable.

Positive: Professional, Good Quality.   

Dr Roux operated on me 13 days ago. From me waking up after the operation I had NO more of the excruciating sciatica pain I was plagued with for 18 months. Even the pain at the cut area was very minor and I left the hospital after 3 days. Dr Roux has changed my life and I am so grateful for all he has done for me. He is such a humble and caring person. The world is a better place with him in it. His staff and the hospital were all very helpful and caring, and the service from all the people I had the opportunity to have an interaction with was excellent and such a positive experience. My special thanks to all, but especially to Dr Malan Roux. I recommend him to anyone, any day.

Thank you for being the dedicated, thoughtful, and compassionate doctor that you are. I really appreciate everything you, Erna & Margaret have done for me. You went above and beyond and worked tirelessly towards my healthy outcome. I feel so blessed to know you and have you as my Neuro Surgeon. Unlike the 2 surgeons in Dbn who operated and got me addicted to schedule 7 drugs and multiple follow up consults, my doctor Dr W. Munsamy referred me to Dr Malan Roux. I didn't have enough funds but Dr Roux saw my condition and operated on me. I walked out with feeling & strength back on my left leg with back pains gone. I had just one follow up visit to remove the staples. Dr Roux said no more follow up visits unless it's an emergency. The best thing was No Pethadine, Omnopon, Df118, Valeron, Rohypnol and Dormicum. I walked out of hospital with just a few pain tablets & wound dressing. I began walking unaided after just one day after spinal fusion
