The NSPCA is the largest animal welfare organisation enforcing the Animals Protection Act in South Africa. The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) was founded in 1955 as the Federation of SPCAs to provide a forum to bring uniformity to welfare legislation and standards. All the SPCAs in South Africa are governed by the SPCA Act 169 of 1993 which is administered by the NSPCA, thus constituting us as a statutory body. We also have our own units who work towards ending cruelty in the lives of animals used in research, farm animals, wildlife, animals used in sports and entertainment, dogs in security, aquaculture and dogs used in the cruel practice of dog fighting.

Welcome to the Animal Anti-Cruelty League. The League (AACL), has been protecting and caring for animals since 1956. It is South Africa's second largest independent Animal Welfare Organization, relying entirely on the generosity and goodwill of the animal-loving public for financial support. We are an organization that gets involved with all aspects of animal welfare:

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) movement has been in existence since 1872 and is the largest and oldest animal welfare organisation in South Africa. Our MISSION is to prevent cruelty and promote the welfare of all animal species, whilst our VISION is to end all animal cruelty in South Africa and engender compassion for all animals. All SPCA branches are affiliated with the National Council of SPCA. We at the uMngeni SPCA, pride ourselves on being a very proactive & highly motivated branch of the SPCA. The uMngeni SPCA has been tackling the problems of neglect, abuse, and cruelty to animals in the greater Howick Districts since its formation in 1968. We are a non-profit organization and rely solely on funding from individuals and businesses to finance the work we do to improve the lives of animals. We work determinedly to protect animals from suffering, neglect, and abuse and enforce the Animals Protection Act, No 71 of 1962.
