Since the 1990's, the Msunduzi Museum in Pietermaritzburg an agency of the National Department of Arts and Culture has been transformed from a historically single-themed museum to one that depicts the heritage of different cultural groups of KwaZulu-Natal. The museum was created in 1912 as a tribute to the Voortrekkers. Voortrekker history is the main focus in the Voortrekker Complex, i. e. the historic Church of the Vow, the Andries Pretorius House and the E. G. Jansen Extension. The Voortrekker Memorial Church and historic Church Hall were also recently acquired for the Museum by the National Department of Arts and Culture The Main building is home to a variety of cultural-history exhibitions which are also constantly being upgraded and expanded, like ' A Tapestry of Cultures' on the Mezzanine floor. The cave was discovered by Italian miners in 1898. They mined out approximately 15% from the formation and brought them to the surface. The formation consist of calcite which they placed in a self built oven for 2 week about 1100 degrees. This formed a powder which was taken by ox wagon to Pretoria & Johannesburg to make cement, toothpaste, use to extract gold and the like. Mining was stopped in 1902 due to the outbreak of war and low productivity. This is the 3rd largest chamber is South Africa, the largest being Cango Caves and second largest Sudwala Caves. Bothongo WonderCave Entrance The entrance to the cave is going down 87 stair at a 45degrees angle dropping 22 meters below the surface. You will then go down an elevator with a drop of a further 18 meters into the cave.

The majestic Voortrekker Monument is situated in the northern part of South Africa in the Pretoria (Tshwane) region in a nature reserve. It is a unique Monument which commemorates the Pioneer history of Southern Africa and the history of the Afrikaner and is situated in a beautiful setting. The Monument was inaugurated in 1949. It was designed by architect Gerard Moerdijk. In the Hall of Heroes is the world's longest historical marble frieze. A tapestry with more than three million stitches is housed in the Cenotaph Hall.
