FAQs

Everyday SA Yellow gets great suggestions, critiques, and the like in our mailbox, but some questions we hear again and again (and again!). So we thought we'd post them for you just in case they have something in common with what you've got on your mind.

Searching

What if no matching business listings are found?
There are several reasons why SA Yellow may find no matching listings even when you have reason to believe there probably are some listings:

  • The name of the Keyword you typed may not be recognised. Try again using a synonym.
  • Something may have been misspelled. Correct any spelling mistakes and search again.
  • Try eliminating abbreviations. Be sure that all words are spelled out in full and then search again.

  • A search by city does not locate the listing I'm looking for
    Some commonly abbreviated city names, such as JHB, must be spelled out, e.g. Johannesburg.

    Can I search by brand on SAYellow.com?
    SAYellow.com does not offer a brand search or product search.

    How do I find email addresses, website addresses, fax numbers or toll-free numbers?
    Many of our advertisers supply this type of information with their own listings. If this information is provided to us, it will be located next to their business name.

    How do I find businesses outside South Africa?
    SAYellow.com has established relationships with several Internet Yellow Pages companies around the world in order to provide you with links to international yellow page directory listings. The International Directories are listed under the Quick Links dropdown menu on our home page.
    Listings
    Why is my business not listed in the SAYellow.com directory?
    If your business is not listing in our directory, SAYellow.com would be happy to offer you a free basic listing. You can also get your business noticed by utilizing the many advertising solutions available from SAYellow.com. Click here to add your business listing.
    Can SA Yellow link to my business’s website?
    Yes.

    My business listing is incorrect in SA Yellow, how do I change it.

    To update your listing:
    1. Login to your Company profile. (If you do not have your login link, go to Customer Services to request your password).
    2. Click on the COMPANY PROFILE heading.
    3. Click on the GENERAL INFORMATION heading.
    In the UPDATE YOUR COMPANY PROFILE page:
    1. Check your details to make sure it's correct and make any changes necessary.
    2. Click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the page.
    You'll then be taken back to the UPDATE MENU page.

    Go through all the headings to make sure all your details are correct and remember to click on the SAVE button on each of the pages.
    How do I report an incorrect business listing?
    While considerable research has been carried out throughout the past year, it may be possible that some listings are incorrect. Should you encounter a listing that is incorrect, please contact customer support so we can fix it.

    I forgot my SA Yellow password. How do I login?
    If you forgot your password click on Customer Services, and fill in your details. Your user name and password question will be sent to you via email.

    How do I change my SA Yellow password?
    If you want to change your password click on Customer Services, log in to your listing, then click on Change Password. You will be asked to enter your new password twice for confirmation.

    How are listings filed on SA Yellow?
    Listings are listed alphabetically. Making it easier for you to find the listing you are looking for.

    What happens if I misspell a word?
    SA Yellow automatically checks for spelling errors and corrects accordingly. If a misspelled word cannot be matched, we may be unable to locate your listings. So be sure to check your search criteria for spelling mistakes.

    Why is the information on SA Yellow different than the information in my local Yellow Pages book?
    SA Yellow is NOT affiliated with the local telephone company who is responsible for issuing your local Yellow Pages book. The telephone company organizes their information differently (i.e. Category Headings). For this reason, the information will vary slightly.

    Can you send me a copy of my local Yellow Pages book?
    SAYellow.com is not affiliated with the local telephone company who is responsible for issuing your local yellow pages book. Please contact your phone company to order a new or replacement book.

    How often does SAYellow.com update its business listings?
    Incorrect information reported by a user or merchant is updated immediately upon verification. However, we also receive information from a variety of sources, so there are several factors that can contribute to outdated listings. These sources are not affiliated with the local phone companies, so items such as new postal codes or area codes, changed or disconnected phone numbers and changes in business name, location or status, can take up to 18 months to update.

    Do you provide operator-assisted lookups?
    No, we have only provide online listings.

    Can I obtain a mailing list from SAYellow.com?
    The use of SAYellow.com information for mailing lists is prohibited by law. Please read SAYellow.com terms of use or privacy notice for more information.

    Why does some of the listings on SA Yellow not include Email, Fax, Postal address, etc.?
    We at SA Yellow want you to have as much information as possible at your disposal.

    Business name, address and phone numbers are often the only pieces of information provided to SA Yellow by some of our advertisers. But, we do promise to provide additional information, such as email addresses, website addresses, fax numbers, or toll-free numbers, when that information is made available by our advertisers.
    Connection Problems
    Why did I receive an "unexpected error"?
    Unexpected errors can be caused by high traffic volume or a glitch in the system which sometimes results in getting "kicked off" the service. Your feedback will help us identify and resolve any bugs in SA Yellow.

    I sent a message to you. Why have I gotten no reply?
    Some Internet service providers have a gateway that allows users to send but not receive email. Please check with your service provider about possible email restrictions.

    SA Yellow tries to answer every email promptly so we hope it's not our error. Email us again and give us a second chance!
    Browser Incompatibilities
    SA Yellow doesn't seem to work correctly. Is it my browser or your service?
    Some users have experienced problems when viewing SA Yellow with certain browsers. Due to various code restrictions on the different browsers, it is a struggle to create one design that meets the different standards of each browser. Please email the Webmaster for more information.

    Links and Advertising
    How do I advertise my business on SA Yellow?
    There are a variety of advertising options to choose from. Our Advertising Options page contains more information.

    How do I register my company free of charge on SA Yellow?
    Your business information will be placed in the "Free Listings" section which will be listed under one relevant classification, within one location. Listings are displayed alphabetically. A free entry consists of the following:

    Company Name, Physical address, Postal address, Telephone number, Fax number, Website address, Company email address, Contact person, Your company description in 200 characters.
    Step by step procedure:
    1. Click here to add your listing.
    2. Read through the Terms & Conditions and click on "I Agree"
    3. Enter a keyword in the search box (any word related to your category) and click on "Search"
    4. A list of all the categories related to the keyword you entered will appear, click on the category you want to be listed under. (If the category you want is not listed, please email Customer Support to suggest your category).
    5. Enter your details on the form and click on "Next"
    Our entry on your system is under the wrong category, how can I change this?
    1. Login to your Company Profile
    2. Click on the "COMPANY PROFILE" heading.
    3. Click on the "CATEGORIES" Heading. 
    In the UPDATE YOUR CATEGORIES page:
    1. Enter a keyword in the search box (any word related to your category) and click on "Search".
    2. A list of all the categories related to the keyword you entered will appear, click on the category you want to be listed under. (If the category you want is not listed, go back and try another keyword, if you still can't find a category, please email Customer Support to suggest your category).
    I requested a link to my business’s website, but cannot find it on SA Yellow.
    Please be sure you are looking under the correct heading, city, and/or name when looking for your link.

    Listings are uploaded monthly and are validated before they can be permanently added to the database.

    Can I link to SA Yellow from my website?
    Yes, please visit our Link Kit for more information.

    How do I access My Statements, Insertion Order and Invoices on the SA Yellow.com website?
    1. Login to your Company Profile
    2. In the Main Menu, click on the "ACCOUNT CENTRE" heading.
    3. Select the report you want to view/print.
    To activate your Insertion Order, please fax your signed copy to 012 345 6193
    How Do I Change My Bank Details on the SA Yellow.com Website?
    Please email Customer Support to change your bank details.

    How do I link my Banner to my Priority Listing?
    (An image to be displayed randomly on SA Yellow and permanently in your company profile. Your banner will be linked directly to your website or if you do not have a website, it will be linked to your company profile on SA Yellow).
    1. Login to your Company Profile
    2. In the Main Menu, click on the "COMPANY PROFILE" heading.
    3. In the Update Menu, click on the "UPLOAD YOUR BANNER" heading.
    4. Click on the "Browse" button to select the image that you would like to upload, then click on "Submit".
    NB: Please ensure that your image is designed according to the following specifications.
    Dimensions: 392 (H) x 72 (W) Pixels or33 (H) x 6 (W) mm
    File Format: GIF or JPG
    Size: Under 15k
    Animation is allowed provided these conditions are met.

    How do I link my Brand Button to my Priority Listing?
    (An image/logo to be displayed on the left hand side of your business card in search results, thus drawing attention and increasing brand awareness).
    1. Login to your Company Profile
    2. In the Main Menu, click on the "COMPANY PROFILE" heading.
    3. In the Update Menu, click on the "UPLOAD YOUR BRAND BUTTON" heading.
    4. Click on the "Browse" button to select the image that you would like to upload, then click on "Submit".
    NB: Please ensure that your image is designed according to the following specifications.

    Dimensions: 120 (H) x 60 (W) Pixels or 10 (H) x 5 (W) mm
    File Format: GIF or JPG
    Size: Under 5k
